#RomanticIdea by @BarbaraWDaille and #Excerpt from Cowboy in Charge

Summer #RomanticIdea –Tina Gayle blog - Barbara White Daille CIC 7-19-16

Tina – thank you so much for hosting me at your blog today.

And Readers - thank you for stopping by to visit.

I’m especially honored to be here because Tina is the originator of this Summer #RomanticIdea event!

Here’s my suggestion for a romantic idea to enjoy:

As I love chocolate, any idea that involves the sweet treat is something I can really get behind. J My recommendation is to buy a box of your significant other’s favorite chocolate (or other candy) and present it to him or her along with the following plan: you each eat one piece of chocolate and then, to work off the calories, take a walk in the park. Do this on a romantic moonlit night, and you never know what might happen!

Excerpt from Cowboy in Charge

Jason and Layne’s reunion is as rocky as their past relationship. Though this snippet from their story doesn’t include chocolate, from their perspective, it’s definitely both sweet and bittersweet…

She stopped beside the truck and waited for him to unlock the passenger door. He kept his arm wrapped around her shoulders. Her heart started to thump.

“You still fit up against me,” he said, “as if we were two puzzle pieces linked together.”

“We’re a puzzle, all right,” she murmured.

He moved to stand in front of her. He reached for the lapels of her jacket, holding them closed, protecting her from the breeze. “I always did enjoy a good puzzle.” He tugged gently, bringing her a shade closer as he dipped his head.

His mouth was cold from the air around them, minty from the plastic-wrapped candy he’d taken from the dish beside the cash register. She wondered if he’d done that deliberately, taken the mint with the knowledge he intended to kiss her. The thought that he might have wanted…might have planned…might have looked forward to just this moment sent a pleasurable thrill racing through her.

“Still cold?” he murmured against her mouth. He slid both arms around her, holding her against him, warming every inch of her, outside and in.

They stood in the parking lot, in public, in view of her friends, the way they had done all over town during their dating days, and somehow she didn’t care. She let him kiss her, and she kissed him, too.

And she wished they could go back to those days and start all over again.

A Rancher's Pride by @BarbaraWDaille #Excerpt, #Westernromance

Author:  Barbara White Daille

Book:  A Rancher’s Pride – Reissue (Larger Print edition)

Release Date:  6-1-16

Blurb (Up to 150 words.  Blurbs will be trimmed for length and/or edited for grammar and spelling.)

Sam Robertson's life just changed. In one short day, he found out that he's a daddy; that his beautiful little girl, Becky, is deaf; and that her aunt, sign language teacher Kayla Ward, intends to fight him for custody.

There are plenty of reasons Sam shouldn't fall for Kayla. A city girl like her has no place on his ranch, particularly when she's his ex-wife's gorgeous sister. But thanks to the judge's orders, Sam's spending a lot of time with Kayla, trying to give Becky the stable home she's never known.

Despite their ongoing custody battle, Sam and Kayla's love for Becky brings them closer than they ever expected, and Sam knows that no matter who wins in court, he could still lose—Kayla or his daughter.

Review Fresh Fiction Wrote:  The story is an extraordinary narrative incorporating sign language enabling Becky to speak her mind and dialog with those around her. Instead of making Becky silent, White Daille gave her a voice—reminiscent of Catherine Anderson and Deborah Smith who often give special people great voices

Excerpt (No more than 150 words.  Excerpts will be edited for length, grammar and spelling. Must be No Hotter Than PG-13 or Two Flames)

The woman standing in his yard looked even better close up.  Long, golden-brown hair the color of honey pine.  Eyes the blue of a lake in winter.

“I’m Sam Robertson.  What can I do for you?”

As she looked at him, those blue eyes froze over.

A warning bell rang somewhere deep in his memory.  “Don’t I know you?”

“You should.  I’m Kayla Ward.”

“As in Ronnie Ward?”

She nodded.  “I’m her sister.  You don’t recognize me?”

He looked closer.  His insides tightened and his pulse picked up.  Yeah, he remembered her now, no matter how briefly he’d seen her the first time they’d crossed paths.

It would be just like his ex to send her here, claiming she’d changed her mind about Becky.

Well, if this woman thought she’d waltz in and take his daughter away, she had another think coming.

The Lawman's Christmas Proposal by @BarbaraWDaille

photo The Lawmans Christmas Proposal_zpsgbnpmfez.jpg The Lawman’s Christmas Proposal, the latest book in the Hitching Post Hotel series by Barbara White Daille, releases today in print and e-book formats!

From the cover of The Lawman’s Christmas Proposal:

A husband for Christmas?

Mitch Weston's back in Cowboy Creek, and self-proclaimed matchmaker Jed Garland has his single granddaughter Andi on his mind. Mitch is a lawman, good with the little ones and easy on the eyes. He and Andi were high school sweethearts, for heaven's sake! Why can't they see they're perfect for each other?

Because Andi already lost one husband to a dangerous job, and now she's all about playing it safe, for her sake and her children's. Being a cop is everything to Mitch. After discovering Jed's plan, Mitch and Andi come up with their own: they'll pretend to get engaged and then break up due to irreconcilable differences. Jed's got his work cut out for him—because this match needs a Christmas miracle!

Excerpt:

At their first meeting in years, it’s soon evident that Mitch and Andi’s long-ago summer fling is definitely not a thing of the past:

She kissed Mitch as desperately as he kissed her, without a thought for her tender lip or her obligations or anything but how she’d always felt when he held her. He was broader now, sturdier, more muscled…and an even better kisser.

Reluctantly, she pulled herself together, resting her hands on his wide shoulders to anchor herself. No, to prepare herself. Finally, she pushed away.

Her legs trembling, she went down the rest of the steps, fighting the urge to raise her hand to her mouth. To touch the warmth he had left against her lips. To hold back the words she would not and couldn’t afford to say.

With unsteady hands, she smoothed her hair as she attempted to catch her breath. “Are you crazy? It’s broad daylight and we’re out here in the open and anyone could have seen us. I told you I don’t want to fix you.” Liar. “So just what was that supposed to prove?”

“I thought it might help speed the healing.”

“Of my lip?”

“No, my knee.” His chest rose, as if he were struggling with his breathing, too. He gave her a crooked smile. “All right, that was also to prove you haven’t forgotten me any more than I’ve forgotten you.”

“Maybe I haven’t. They say you never forget your—” first love “—first kiss. But I’ve had other kisses since then.”

He whistled. “That’s cold, Andi.”

“That’s the truth.”

“All of it?”

She stiffened. “What do you mean?”

“C’mon, don’t play dumb with me.” His laugh sounded strained. “You kissed me back just now.”

“Like I had a choice?”

“We always have choices.” For a moment, his face hardened and his eyes looked bleak.

“I don’t think so. Not always.” He was remembering their past. Good. She wouldn’t have to lay things out for him. And hopefully, once she had finished here, she would never again have to face a sneak attack on her pitifully weak defenses.
