WW - One Woman's Desire for a Celebration

Turkey Day was not official celebrated until November 26, 1789 by presidential proclamation.

Sarah Josepha Hale, editor of the famous "Godey's Lady's Book, started a campaign in the 1830's to make it an annual national day of Thanksgiving.  It was not until 1863 that she succeeded when President Abraham Lincoln proclaimed the last Thursday in November to be Thanksgiving Day.

Thank you, Sarah, for fighting for a cause that reminds us to celebrate the wonderful gifts in our lives.
